"Friends are the Family We Choose for Ourselves"

Cecelia Canale DeAngelo lived by this motto. She collected friends everywhere she went, and treated them as precious gifts. Known to many as Cecil, she was truly unique - creative, spirited, intelligent, irreverent, self-effacing and beautiful. Cecil was a life force who lost her brief battle with pancreatic cancer on June 4, 2010.

She was born April 3, 1950 in Brooklyn, NY and raised in Long Island.

Cecil went to Cortland University in 1967 and became immersed in campus life immediately. She was loved by all, and some of her closest friends since her first day at college remained constant in her life until the day she died. She joined sorority and became an integral part of college life.

After college she traveled through Europe with two of her closest friends, and developed her inimitable style by spending a few months in Paris.

Cecil began her beauty career in 1974 at Germaine Monteil Cosmetics in New York as Assistant Product Manager and held positions at Lancôme, Revlon, Coty, Faberge leading up to her positions as Senior Vice President, Marketing at Almay and Executive Vice President at Revlon. She went on to work at Helen of Troy in El Paso, Texas as VP, Marketing. Cecil then returned to New York and the industry she loved. She became a founding partner of Beauty Finds, a niche cosmetic brand that quickly received distribution in major retail chains nationwide. She was most recently a consultant for LF Beauty, a division of Li & Fung, New York.

Cecil's form of relaxation was spending time hanging out with her friends, taking mini vacations to spa's and spending summers at her home in Fire Island.

With the sudden illness and passing of our dear friend, we want to keep Cecil's memory alive and fund research in the early diagnosis of pancreatic cancer.

In addition to leaving behind the family she loves, she left behind many friends that loved her dearly.

Cecil was a friend to many and a cheerleader to all... we miss her.
