Strageies for Caregivers
Be Present
There is always a temptation to try and figure out what the future holds, what might happen. Resist it—you need to deal with issues as they come, and there will be plenty. This can be a very unpredictable disease and you will need to take it one day at a time.Be Organized
Keep records of every conversation, and keep those records with you at all times. If you are overwhelmed ask for help from friends and family.Be There
Spend time with the person who is ill. Talk about things that matter. As my husband once told me, cancer is a gift. It forced him to realize how much he loved me and how much I loved him. With everything going on, it's easy to forget what's truly important.
